It's just a little company. She is running a small company. 在生活大爆炸里面常常听到soft kitty,warm kitty,little ball of fur,是用little来形容猫咪是可爱的小毛球。Emma is a small girl. Emma is a little girl. 形容房间,little和small大不同"房间非常小"不说 very little room一般在副词Very ,Quite后面我们一般不用Little。而是small,很小的房间会说A very small room.例句:Harry Potter has lived in a very small room since his parents died. What a lovely little dog.

ExampleMy grandma is a small lady. But she has a big heart.

Feifei例句中 “My grandma is a small lady.”,这里 “small” 用来形容奶奶 “身材娇小”。

ExampleI’m a tiny person. That’s why I only go to shops with a petite range.

ExamplesCan I have a tiny slice of cake, please? Can I have a small slice of cake, please?

Can I have a tiny slice of cake, please? Can I have a small slice of cake, please? ”。虽然 “a tiny slice” 和 “a small slice” 都是 “一小块”,但 “tiny” 强调 “只要非常小的一块”,也就是说这里 “a tiny slice” 比 “a small slice” 要更小。

比如,我们可以说:“He’s only small. 或者用 “little”:“He’s only little.

比如:我的妹妹 my little sister;他的弟弟 his little brother。

ExamplesWe always fight over the littlest things.

或者:

We always fight over the smallest things.

Feifei这两句话中都使用了单词 “little” 和 “small” 的最高级形式 “the littlest” 和 “the smallest”,意思是 “极其微不足道的”。

ExampleI am sick of your silly little games!

ExampleMark was being so mean to Sally today. He made her feel really small.
